Joseph Saveri and Aaron Cera Shortlisted in The Recorder’s 2026 California Legal Awards

Saveri Law Firm, LLP founding partner Joseph Saveri and associate Aaron Cera have been shortlisted for The Recorder’s 2026 California Legal Awards. Joe was selected as a finalist for “Intellectual Property Lawyer of the Year” and Aaron for “Most Promising Newcomer” - the latter awarding attorneys in their first three years of practice.

The annual California Legal Awards celebrate the achievements of lawyers and companies leading technology, innovation, and the profession. Finalists were selected from hundreds of entries. Winners in these and 25 other categories will be announced at the upcoming California Legal Awards ceremony to be held June 24 at the Sheraton Grand in Los Angeles.

The Recorder was favorably impressed by Joe’s candidacy due to his initiation and guidance of several groundbreaking, high-profile class action cases involving generative artificial intelligence products. These are the first U.S. cases addressing the use or misuse of the IP of creators under federal and state statutes, including copyright/intellectual property, unfair competition, and the common law. These novel, cutting-edge cases are on behalf of classes of artists, coders, and authors who allege their creative work is being illegally appropriated by defendants’ artificial intelligence and machine learning technology without consent, credit, compensation, or transparency.

Aaron’s career to date has also been highlighted by his role in the firm’s generative artificial intelligence litigation, along with key trial preparation efforts in UFC Antitrust Litigation (in which a $375 million settlement was achieved) and discovery-related contributions in Jackson Hewitt “No-Poach” Litigation (in which a $10.8 million settlement was reached).
The firm is honored by The Recorder’s recognition and is particularly grateful for Aaron’s consideration, which confirms the firm’s success in reaching one of its key founding principles: training the next generation of elite lawyers to serve the antitrust community and beyond.
