Michael M. Buchman is a partner in the New York office. Michael brings to the firm considerable international and U.S. antitrust experience. Prior to joining the firm, he received an LL.M. in International Antitrust & Trade Law from Fordham University School of Law and worked for a London Barrister on EU competition law issues. He previously served as an Assistant Attorney General in the New York State Attorney General’s Office Antitrust Bureau and as a managing partner of the antitrust practices at two of the largest class action law firms in the country.

Michael has represented a variety of clients, including a foreign government, various states, municipalities, union health and welfare plans, and consumers in complex cases. He has been involved in some of the largest antitrust class actions in the more than 100-year history of the Sherman Act such as In re NASDAQ Market-Makers Antitrust Litigation ($1.027 billion settlement) and In re Payment Card Interchange Fee and Merchant Discount Antitrust Litigation ($5.5 billion settlement) (“Payment Card”). He represented the largest class representative retailer plaintiff in the Payment Card case.

Over the past nearly thirty years, Michael has been a recognized leader in the development and prosecution of generic drug antitrust litigations. He is one of a few lawyers in this country who has successfully tried an end-payor generic drug reverse payment case (In re Solodyn Antitrust Litigation) which settled during the third week of trial. In 2025, he settled the second largest end-payor generic drug reverse payment case in the more than 25-year history of these cases. In re Xyrem (Sodium Oxybate) Antitrust Litigation, ($198.4 million settlement). He has twice been selected as a Co-Chair of HarrisMartin’s Antitrust Pay-For-Delay Litigation Conference.

Michael has authored and co-authored articles on procedure and competition law, including a Task Force on Dealer Terminations for The Association of the Bar of the City of New York, Committee on Antitrust and Trade Regulation, entitled Dealer Termination in New York and What's in a Name—the Diversity Death-Knell for Underwriters of Lloyd's of London and their Names; Humm v. Lombard World Trade, Inc., Vol. 4, Issue 10 International Insurance Law Review 314 (1996).

Michael is active in the Connecticut and New York City communities having served as a member of the Flood and Erosion Committee for the Town of Westport, Ct., and is presently serving as pro bono counsel in an 18 year action involving the misappropriation of perpetual care monies at Bayside Cemetery - a 12 acre, approximately 34,000 plot cemetery in Queens, New York.
